LAKE CHARLES — Jamie Gibson’s one-handed jumper in the lane with 4.5 seconds left sent Walker to the Class 5A title game.

Gibson finished with a game-high 19 points as Walker claimed a 51-49 victory over New Iberia in semifinal that closed Thursday’s action at the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Girls Top 28 tournament.

Kacie Fountain added 16 for second-seeded Walker (31-5), which plays No. 1 Ponchatoula (31-3) in the 5A title game set for 8 p.m. Saturday at Burton Coliseum. Kierra Anthony led NISH (19-14) with 16 points. Reneisha Alfred (12) and Urionne Jolivette (10) were other leaders for the Yellow Jackets.
