LUTCHER – Lutcher completed a fourth-quarter comeback capped by a Jontre Kirklin touchdown and Nick Remondet point-after kick for a 40-39 overtime victory over McDonogh 35 on Friday.

After trailing the Roneagles 25-13 following the third quarter, the Bulldogs (2-0) took a one-point lead after a 30-yard fumble return by Paul Joseph. Quarterback Jontre Kirklin put the Bulldogs up by eight with two minutes to go in the game after a 24-yard TD pass to Destin Porter. But the Roneagles (0-2) tied the game with 33 seconds left after a TD and Sidney Wilson to Toreano Miner two-point conversion.

Both teams scored in overtime, but the Roneagles’ missed their PAT kick. May totaled 255 rushing yards and four TDs on 24 carries. Ricky Ross had 13 tackles for the Bulldogs.

TARA 26, AMITE COUNTY 20: In Liberty, Mississippi, JuJuonte Brown completed 6 of 13 passes for 168 yards and two TDs to lift Tara (1-1) to its first victory.

Brown tossed TD passes of 64 yards to Da’Monte Coxie and 35 yards to James Owens for the Trojans, who also got 71 yards rushing, including a 5-yard TD run from Leonard Williams. Darrion Robinson, who had a 94-yard TD run, scored all the TDs for Amite County (1-3).

ST. MICHAEL 16, DE LA SALLE 6: St. Michael scored 16 straight points to take control of the game.

De La Salle (1-1) scored first on Victor Gaines’ 29-yard pass to Christian Booker.

Quarterback Jeff Vaccaro got things going for St. Michael (2-0) with two 44-yard touchdown passes, one to C.J. McGarner and the other to Ross Schelfo. Vaccaro completed eight passes for 193 yards for the Warriors.

SILLIMAN 28, COPIAH ACADEMY 7: Keon Brown rushed 101 yards and caught two TD passes to lead Silliman.

Quarterback Zach Kelly also connected with Tyren Shelton twice for TDs totaling 70 yards. The Wildcats (3-1) stay on the road next week and travel to Bowling Green Academy for their first District 6-2A MAIS game next week. Copiah falls to 2-2.

WESTLAKE 17, CROWLEY 14: Westlake’s Jonathan Peshoff kicked a 21-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Class 3A Rams over Class 4A Gents.

Westlake (1-1) totaled 205 yards of offense with quarterback Hunter Racca leading the way with 87 passing yards and two TDs.

Crowley (1-1) tied the game in the third quarter after a two-point conversion pass from Pate Broussard to John Marceaux. Broussard finished with eight completions for 107 yards and one touchdown.
