BRUSLY — Deven Hammond’s connected with Juwan Johnson for a 15-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to boost Port Allen to a 25-22 victory over rival Brusly in Distict 7-3A game Friday night.

Before Johnson’s catch, the Panthers forced a safety and Evan Daigle scored on a 5-yard TD run to give Brusly a three-point lead to start the fourth quarter after overcoming a 12-point deficit.

Hammond completed 4 of 7 passes for 133 yards and two TD for the Pelicans (5-1, 3-0).

Caleb Henderson returned a kickoff 90 yards in the second quarter for a TD for Brusly (1-5, 0-3).

Josh Allen ran 97 yards on 14 attempts with one TD for BHS.

LIVONIA 47, NORTHWEST 13: No. 8 Livonia opened the scoring and punched out 33 unanswered points during the final three quarters of the District 5-3A opener.

Cee Jay Powell led Livonia (5-0, 10-3A) with 227 of the Wildcat’s 304 total offensive yards along with five TDs. Powell rushed in three TDs and passed to Stephen Guidry for two more scores.

Chris Lee rushed 168 yards on 20 attempts for Northwest (1-5, 0-1), while Matt LeDeux added 56 yards and two TDs.

DUNHAM 13, REDEMPTORIST 6: Dunham’s game-winning TD in the District 6-2A game came in the second quarter when Jyron Walker tossed a 26-yard scoring to Quincey Moreaux.

Walker completed 3-of-5 passes for 37 yards and rushed 63 yards for a TD. Chase Day added 85 rushing yards for Dunham (2-4,1-22A).

Michael Williams completed 9-of-20 passes for 99 yards and a TD for Redemptorist (0-6, 0-3).

Kaleb Battle added 78 rushing yards on eight attempts and caught three passes for 45 yards for the Wolves.

Dunham outgained Redemptorist 229-165.

WEST ST. JOHN 60, ASCENSION CHRISTIAN 0: Seventh-ranked West St. John opened District 8-1A play with a big win.

West St. John (4-2, 1-0) scored 51 first-half points and completed 11-of-13 passes for 234 yards between quarterbacks Jemoine Green and Jewn Boudin. Green passed for three TDs and Boudin pitched in one.

West St. John held Ascension Christian (2-4, 0-1) to minus-1 yards of total offense.

Bradley Borne and Lamar Boudin ran in two TDs while Morell Bartholomew caught two.

BAKER 21, CAPITOL 0: Class 3A Baker shutout Class 2A Capitol in a nondistrict matchup.

Baker (3-3) led 14-0 at the half and three Buffaloes pitched in TDs throughout the contest.

Preston Bell, Devante Rogers and Marcus Riley scored for Baker. Capitol fell to 2-4.

PATTERSON 40, SOUTHERN LAB 16: In Patterson, the Class 3A Lumberjacks rolled past Class 1A Southern Lab.

Curtlan Williams caught a 45-yard TD pass from Bladrick Veal. Veal and Williams contributed one 2-point conversion each. Darbbeon Profit ran in a 25-yard touchdown of his own for the Kittens.

Patterson is 3-3 and Southern Lab is 1-5.

ST. EDMUND 30, CATHOLIC-POINTE COUPEE 14: In New Roads, Drew Brown passed for 300 yards and four touchdowns as St. Edmund (2-4) opened District 5-1A play with a win.

Brown tossed 78- and 18-yard scoring passes to Cullen Brown, a 30-yarder to Drake Brunet and a 9-yard TD pass to Alex Hunt.

Jonas Guichet scored on a 25-yard run and threw a 15-yard scoring pass to Gabe Vandergrift for Catholic High of Pointe Coupee (3-3, 0-1).
