It’s supposed to give competitors one more chance to qualify for the LHSAA State Indoor track meet Feb. 21.
Some of Louisiana’s top runners and field-event competitors also look to improve their marks at Saturday’s LSU High School Last Chance Qualifier. Action begins at 11 a.m. with field events and running events at LSU’s Carl Maddox Field House.
Zachary High’s Janie O’Connor is scheduled to compete in the 60-meter dash and 400 meters to help lead the list of girls entrants, along with distance runner Gabrielle Jennings of Slidell’s First Baptist Christian, who is entered in the 3,200.
St. Paul’s Eric Coston, who is entered in the 800 meters, and Lafayette pole vault specialist Armand Duplantis are among the top boys competitors.
Other boys competitors to watch include St. Thomas Aquinas’ Cameron Dantzler (60 meters, jumps), Assumption’s Jacob Daigle (1,600) and Jehovah-Jireh’s Randy Carter Jr. (800, 3,200).
St. Joseph’s Academy’s Annie Hill is set to do the 800 and 1,600. Baton Rouge High’s Kennedy Smith is entered in the 800. High jump specialist Abigail O’Donoghue and Live Oak’s Ashley Davis in the shot put are among the other girls to watch.
