SULPHUR — Live Oak junior Lenni Kunert got Jesuit’s Blake Baker to fly out to right, and the Eagles hung on for a 6-5 victory in the Class 5A semifinals at McMurry Park.

The Eagles (31-9) advance to Saturday’s 5 p.m. championship game to play the St. Amant-Barbe winner.

Zach Hansen went 4.2 innings for Live Oak before being replaced by Kunert, an LSU commitment. They combined to scatter six hits.

The Eagles worked themselves out of several jams. Jesuit stranded 11 runners, including having the bases loaded in the third and sixth innings.

Live Oak raced out to 4-0 lead in the second inning, thanks in part to a two-run single by Gage Lockwod and an RBI triple by Kunert.

Jesuit rallied to tie it, taking an advantage of three Eagle miscues.

Lockwood, Hansen and Colby Freneaux had two hits each for Live Oak.
