Caddo Parish schools get reprieve, will not receive playoff bans _lowres


BELLE CHASSE – Belle Chasse defeated Northlake Christian 6-1 on Friday in second day action of the Westbank Optimist Challenge at Hebert Field.

Freshman Dakota Landry went six innings and allowed just two hits for Belle Chasse.

The Cardinals improved to 2-0 in the tournament.

The Cardinals played small ball to get their first run in the second. A.J. Paige singled and stole second. Then he advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Ryan Thibodeaux and was driven home on a ground out by Logan LeBlanc.

The Cardinals stretched the lead to 3-0 an inning later on Braiden Usey’s 2-run homer over the left field wall.

They added three more runs in the next two innings.

Belle Chasse will play Slidell on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Shaw on Saturday at 7 p.m. on the final day of the tournament.

The Wolverines scored their only tun in the fourth on a double steal, scoring Kevin Mahl.

Northlake Christian (7-9) will play Hammond at 10 a.m. and Hanson on 1 p.m. on Saturday.
