When will the rain stop? When will high school baseball teams get the chance to make up games?
Stay tuned Friday to see what happens next.
Three sets of district games started Thursday before the teams being chased to the dugout to contemplate finishing another day. Others never got to start as just one game on a 21-game local schedule — Walker at at Live Oak in District 4-5A — was completed, with LOHS winning 6-5.
University at West Feliciana (third inning), McKinley at Dutchtown (fourth inning) and East Ascension at St. Amant (first inning) were all halted by rain showers/lightning at some point Thursday.
No make-up date is set for the UHS-WFHS game. The other two games are scheduled — weather permitting — to begin late Friday afternoon. EAHS at St. Amant is set for 4 p.m. McKinley at Dutchtown is scheduled for 5 p.m., with a second game to follow.
Two key Class 2A showdowns were pushed back to Friday. St. Thomas Aquinas travels to Runnels for a 4 p.m. game. The two District 7-2A teams are scheduled to meet again at 3 p.m. Saturday in Hammond. In 6-2A, Dunham is set to host Redemptorist at 4:30 p.m.
Credit teams in District 4-5A teams with creative scheduling. If the weather holds out, Scotlandville will play Live Oak and Denham Springs on Saturday at LOHS. In turn, Denham Springs is set to host Central at 2 p.m. Sunday.
