LAKE CHARLES — Sixth-seeded Landry-Walker wore down No. 10 St. Michael the Archangel and earned a 62-53 victory in a Class 4A semifinal Wednesday at the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Boys Top 28 tournament in the Burton Coliseum.

The Bucs jumped ahead early and didn’t let St. Michael find a rhythm on offense, allowing them to keep a comfortable lead until the final buzzer.

The Warriors kept the deficit manageable for most of the game but never cut it to less than five points.

Landry-Walker’s Lamar Peters got things going with three 3-pointers in the first quarter and finished with 17 points. Sophomore Keytaon Thompson matched Peters and added another 17 points for the Bucs.

St. Michael senior Jacob Evans led St. Michael, tallying a game-high 23 points in his final game as a Warrior.

The Bucs will play the winner of Thursday’s game between No. 1 Salmen and No. 12 McDonogh 35 at 8 p.m. Saturday.
