NAPOLEONVILLE - Second-ranked Assumption High opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run by Chris Johnson in the second quarter.
After that, the nondistrict Class 4A showdown belonged to fourth-ranked Lutcher High, which scored 28 of the final 30 points to notch a 28-9 road victory Friday night.
Daniel Taylor ran for 222 yards on 21 carries and scored one TD, while quarterback Ruston Matherne ran for 128 yards on 18 carries and scored three TDs for the Bulldogs (8-1), who won their eighth straight game.
A 93-yard run in the fourth quarter by Taylor helped cap the scoring. Included in Matherne’s night was a 49-yard TD run.
Charles Jefferson ran for 69 yards in 11 carries, while Johnson added 58 yards on 15 carries for the Mustangs (8-1), who saw their eight-game winning streak snapped.
AMITE 27, LORANGER 0: In Amite, third-ranked Amite snapped a scoreless halftime tie by scoring 12 points in the third quarter and 15 in the fourth quarter of the District 8-3A game.
The Warriors (7-1, 4-0) intercepted four passes and also returned a fumble for a TD in the game against No. 4 Loranger.
Chester Brumfield started the scoring by returning a Loranger fumble 35 yards for a TD. Reggie Porter added scoring runs of 15 and 19 yards to help carry Amite. Loranger is 8-1, 3-1.
BREAUX BRIDGE 28, CECILIA 6: In Cecilia, LSU commitment Travin Dural provided big plays to boost third-ranked BBHS (8-1, 3-1) to a District 5-4A victory.
Dural caught TD passes of 82 and 78 yards from Adrian Menard, who added a 5-yard scoring run for the Tigers.
Josh Williams added another big play - a 57-yard scoring run for the winners.
Jeremy Doucette scored on a 7-yard pass from Tylor Robin for CHS (3-6, 1-3).
INDEPENDENCE 20, JEWEL SUMNER 7: In Tangipahoa, Miquel Toefield ran for 148 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns, leading 10th-ranked Independence (6-3, 2-2) to a District 8-3A win.
Toefield had scoring runs of 1 and 7 yards for the Tigers, who also scored on a 11-yard pass from Devon Steptoe to LaDarius Butler.
Michael Spears scored on a 1-yard run for Sumner (4-5, 2-2).
EUNICE 35, RAYNE 20: In Eunice, the seventh-ranked Bobcats (8-1, 4-0) remained unbeaten in District 5-3A, thanks in part to the efforts of quarterback Trenon Trosclair.
Trosclair ran for 131 yards on 12 carries and scored one touchdown. He also passed for 157 yards and three TDs.
Eunice scored in all four quarters. Trosclair scored on a 15-yard run and had TD passes of 34 and 25 yards to Derek Benton and a scoring pass of 26 yards to Travis Woods.
Jalen Williams finished with 141 yards on 13 carries and scored one TD for Rayne (5-4, 0-4).
CENTRAL CATHOLIC 41, HANSON MEMORIAL 26: In Franklin, fifth-ranked Central Catholic-Morgan City (8-1, 3-0) raced out to a 21-0 lead and eventually won what turned into a District 8-1A shootout.
Lloyd Grogan finished with scoring runs of 47, 36 and 38 yards to help pace CCMC.
Joshua Singleton scored on a 1-yard run and also had TD passes of six yards to Dontrell Brown and nine yards to Tyler Hoffpauir for the winners.
Blake Rodriguez tossed TD passes of 34 and 47 yards to Chase Businelle to help power Hanson (6-3, 1-2).
WESTMINSTER 41, SACRED HEART-VP 0: In Opelousas, five different players scored TDs for 10th-ranked Westminster in a District 6-1A contest.
Jalen Williams caught TD passes of 23 and 40 yards for Thomas Kemp, who also scored on a 26-yard run for the Crusaders (7-2, 5-0).
Tyler Louviere (11-yard run), Luke Judice (22-yard run) and Daniel Young (8-yard run) also contributed TDs for the winners.
OAKDALE 7, BUNKIE 6: In Bunkie, a point-after kick by Aaron Welch provided the margin of victory as Oakdale (6-3, 4-0) in a District 5-2A game.
Damien Ward scored Oakdale’s TD on a 14-yard run in the first quarter. Ward tallied 113 yards on 16 carries to pace the Warriors.
Bunkie (3-6, 2-2) got its TD in the second quarter on an 8-yard pass from Herman Dupas, who ran for 48 yards on nine carries for the Panthers.
