Mike Robertson, an assistant football coach at John Curtis Christian School, died Thursday morning.

“Our beloved teacher, Coach, alumni, friend, colleague, Coach Mike Robertson, has fought his fight and won his race and will join those who have gone before him in Heaven,” the school said in a statement on its website.

“Coach Rob,” as he is affectionately known by the Curtis faithful, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of cancer, in the spring of 2013.

He spent 40 years coaching the Patriots’ offensive line, a key part of the school’s success over the years.
