49 Led by quarterback Jason Pellerin, an Ole Miss commit, Catholic-New Iberia scored 49 first-half points against Erath before scaling things down in the second half of its 63-7 win on Friday night. Pellerin finished with two touchdowns passing and two touchdowns rushing, giving him eight total touchdowns through two games this season.
4 Touchdowns scored by Comeaux wide receiver Hunter Register in the first two weeks of the season, which by itself isn’t an eye-popping number until considering none of them came when the Spartans had the ball on offense. The 6-foot-4 Register has now scored on three special teams return touchdowns (two punt returns, one kickoff return) and one interception return touchdown through two games. He also had a game-clinching interception late in the Spartans’ season-opening win against Cecilia.
300 Notre Dame head coach Lewis Cook celebrated a milestone last week with his 300th coaching victory, after his Pioneers rolled over Breaux Bridge 51-21 in front of the home crowd. Taking a back seat to the celebration for Cook’s achievement was the outstanding performance of the Notre Dame offense against a Breaux Bridge defense that shut it out a year before.
