The East Baton Rouge Parish All-Star basketball games are set for Sunday at Baton Rouge Community College’s Bonne Sante Wellness Center.

Action begins with the girls game at 5 p.m., followed immediately by the boys game.

Scotlandville’s Carlos Sample will coach the North boys squad that features two of his players, LaMarcus Lee and Monquel Hawkins. The South squad coached by Broadmoor’s Terrence Gillette includes McKinley’s Keion Brown and Russell Daniels.

The girls North squad coached by Belaire’s Ella Reado has Capitol’s Darneisha McCallister, Northeast’s Pearl Jones and Scotlandville’s Celica Sterling. Woodlawn’s Stephanie Helgeson is coaching the South squad that includes Broadmoor’s MiKayla Crockett and Honchea Thornton.

Recruiting, etc.

Central offensive linemen Jace Briggs and Hyatt Harris are set to continue their football careers at out-of-state colleges.

Briggs is bound for Kentucky-based Murray State, a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. Harris is headed to New Mexico Military Institute located in Roswell, New Mexico.

Both players were honored during a ceremony last week at the school.

Port Allen track athlete Hampton Craig is scheduled to sign with Dilliard University during a ceremony Wednesday at the school.
