Southern Lab took a 2-1 victory over Terrebonne High to win Brusly’s 37th Lady Panther Invitational volleyball tournament completed late Saturday night. SLHS won by scores of 25-21, 15-25, 15-13.

Payten Clark made the all-tournament team to help lead the Kittens of Division V. The two-day, 18-team tourney featured teams from all five divisions.

Hess golf tournament

The eighth annual Brian Hess golf tournament is set for Monday, Oct. 5, at Greystone Country Club in Denham Springs.

Proceeds from the tournament help defray the living expenses for the family of Hess, who was the head boys basketball coach at Woodlawn High when he was seriously injured in a 2005 auto accident while the team was playing in a Lake Charles-based tournament.

Weekly leaders sought

The Advocate and other publications across the state will begin compiling statewide football leaders this week.

Baton Rouge area schools are asked to submit their leaders by clicking on the following link http://weeklystatistics.theadvocate.com/. Include two-game totals and top individual performers from the first two weeks of the season.

Officials to meet

The Baton Rouge Area Basketball Officials Assocaition began its series of weekly meetings last week. The group will continue to meet at 6 p.m. each Wednesday in the Family Christian Academy gym.
