Runnels’ Grant Welch tops The Advocate’s all-metro boys golf team for Divisions III and below _lowres

OUTSTANDING PLAYER

Grant Welch, Runnels

Welch concluded his career in a sweet way, finishing as the LHSAA’s Division IV runner-up with a two-day score of 145. He also led all local golfers in Division III and below with a nine-hole regular-season average of 1 under par.

Jancen Brown, Dunham

Tied for 11th at the Division III tourney at 158 and had a 1.00 regular-season average.

Austin Cope, Parkview Baptist

Carded a regular-season average of 1.0 over par and tied for 20th at Division III tourney.

Parker Johnson, University

Tied for 17th at the Division III tourney and also had a 1.88 regular-season average.

Tucker Landry, Ascension Catholic

Was the fifth-place finisher at the Division IV after having a 1.0 regular-season mark.

Cameron Little, University

Finished 13th at the Division III tourney and had a 2.75 regular-season average.

Miller Masestri, Dunham

Finished 0.38 above par in the regular season and tied for fifth in Division III.

Frankie Manale, Dunham

Had a ninth-place finish to help the Tigers win the LHSAA’s Division III title.

BJ Rogillio, Parkview Baptist

Notched a third-place finish at the LHSAA’s Division III tourney for the Eagles.

Michael Sotile, University

Team leader for the Division III Cubs recorded an even-par regular-season average.

Trey Winstead, University

Won the Division III individual state title with a 144 score for the runner-up Cubs.

COACH OFTHEYEAR

Philip Zimmerman, Dunham

It might be impossible to script a better finish send-off the one the Tigers gave Zimmerman, who announced his retirement at the end of the season. Dunham came from behind to win the LHSAA’s Division III state title with a 630 score.
