Jewel Sumner’s Devin King continued his assault on Louisiana’s indoor boys pole vault record Saturday at the LSU High School Last Chance Qualifier held Saturday at the Carl Maddox Field House.

King posted a winning mark of 17 feet, 8 inches, just shy of the existing national mark of 17-9¼. A week earlier, the SLU signee also broke the mark with an effort of 17-4.

The national mark of 17-9¼ was set by Andrew Irwin of Mount Ida, Ark., in 2011.
