PORT BARRE — Mark Lewis ran for 198 yards on 26 carries and scored three touchdowns, helping Livonia High clinch a share of the District 5-3A title with a 36-25 victory over Port Barre Friday night.
The Wildcats (9-1, 4-1) opened up a 15-7 first-quarter lead thanks to scoring runs of 11 and 14 yards by Lewis, along with a safety.
Mason Torres passed for 108 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown pass to Brand Armand. Torres added a 1-yard TD run.
John Sylvester ran for 99 yards on 20 carries and scored twice for Port Barre (4-6, 2-3). Sylvester had a TD run of 58 yards as the Red Devils out-gained Livonia 300 to 235 on the ground.
Livonia shares the 5-3A title with Church Point (8-2, 4-1) and Eunice (8-2, 4-1).
CHRISTIAN LIFE 54, ARCHBISHOP HANNAN 29: At CLA, Frank Bartley scored four touchdowns and Jerrell Richardson added two TDs as the Crusaders (7-3, 4-1) claimed a second-place finish in District 7-1A.
Bartley caught a 39-yard scoring pass from Trevon Fisher and also had scoring runs of 3, 55 and 9 yards.
Richardson had TD runs of 1 and 9 yards. Gerard Robinson also had a big play for CLA — a 55-yard scoring run. The Crusaders finished with 458 yards of total offense, including 308 rushing yards. Hannan finishes 6-4 and 1-4.
ST. THOMAS AQUINAS 21, SPRINGFIELD 10: In Springfield, St. Thomas Aquinas scored 14 fourth-quarter points to notch a come-from-behind win in District 8-2A.
Included in the rally was a 26-yard scoring pass from Darrel Moore to Kaylen Richardson with 5:48 remaining the game.
Moore passed for 131 yards and two TDs for the Falcons (5-5, 4-1, who wrapped up a second-place finish in 8-2A with the win.
Steven Wronkoski caught five passes or 59 yards to pace all receiving. Brealand Dillon added 65 yards on 11 carries for STA.
Gharmaine Ashton had 14 carries for 51 yards to help pace Springfield (5-5, 3-2).
VERMILION CATHOLIC 62, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 29: In Abbeville, Jacoby Davis ran for 288 yards on 30 carries and scored four touchdowns to power third-ranked VCHS (10-0, 4-0) to a District 8-1A victory over No. 5 Central Catholic-Morgan City (8-2, 3-1).
With the victory, Vermilion Catholic wrapped up the 8-1A crown. Lloyd Grogan ran for 153 yards on 14 carries and scored three TDs for CCMC.
VCHS outscored Central Catholic 26-0 in the second half.
