Six players with Acadiana area ties are set to compete in Saturday’s LHSCA All-Star basketball games in Shreveport.
Lafayette High’s Corey Davis and Randy Primeaux of Midland are among the players who reported to practice with the boys West team Friday.
Action begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hirsch Coliseum for the East-West girls contest. The boys game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Primeaux led Midland to a runner-up finish in Class B last week in Lake Charles and was part of the Rebels team that won the Class B title in 2014. Davis helped lead a Lafayette team that was seeded sixth in the 5A playoffs and advanced to the regional round.
New Iberia Senior High’s Keirra Anthony, North Central’s Jazlyn Robertson and Vermilion Catholic’s Ashailee Brailey and Kaylen Collins, are Acadiana area girls set to compete.
Anthony led NISH to the LHSAA’s Girls Top 28 tournament two weeks ago. It was the Class 5A Yellow Jackets’ first tourney appearance since the 1980s.
Anthony, Brailey and Collins will compete for the West squad. The VCHS duo was part of a team that finished as the Class 1A runner-up to Robertson and North Central. Robertson, who was selected as the Most Outstanding Player in the 1A final, is on the East team.
