The Louisiana High School Athletic Association postseason began much like the regular season ended.
Plenty of rain and plenty of postponements ruled the day on Monday when the Class 5A and Class 4A playoffs were set to begin for several teams.
Three of the four games featuring local teams were postponed because of heavy downpours throughout the state.
East Jefferson, the No. 32 seed in Class 4A, was the only local team that managed to get its game in on Monday.
The Warriors saw their season come to an end with a 16-2 loss to top seed Tioga.
All three of Monday’s postponed games featuring local teams (Karr at Franklinton, Captain Shreve at Destrehan and Salmen at St. Michael the Archangel) are now scheduled to be played on Tuesday.
Karr and Franklinton are scheduled for 6 p.m.
Destrehan is scheduled to host Captain Shreve at 7 p.m., but that game will be played at St. Thomas Aquinas in Hammond.
Salmen at St. Michael is scheduled for 4 p.m.
In addition to the postponed games, several other games are scheduled for Tuesday and will be played, weather permitting.
One of the biggest first round games Tuesday pits Holy Cross against Rummel at 4 p.m. at Kirsch Rooney Stadium.
The other 5A games on Tuesday’s schedule are:
Ruston at Jesuit at 5 p.m.; Ouachita Parish at St. Paul’s at 6 p.m.; Chalmette at West Monroe at 6 p.m.; Shaw at Zachary at 6 p.m.; Northshore at Denham Springs at 6 p.m. and Hahnville vs. Brother Martin (at UNO) at 6:30 p.m.
The other Class 4A games set for Tuesday are: St. Martinsville at Lakeshore at 4 p.m.; Pearl River at St. Thomas More at 5 p.m.; Riverdale at Crowley at 6 p.m. and Assumption at Belle Chasse at 6 p.m.
The LHSAA will release the playoff parings for Class 3A, 2A, 1A, B and C on Tuesday at noon.
