At least one New Orleans area volleyball team is guaranteed to make it to the Division IV championship match.
Sacred Heart, McGehee, John Curtis and Newman all won in Monday’s regional round, and all are on the same side of the bracket in the quarterfinals, which will be played Thursday at the Pontchartrain Center.
John Curtis beat St. Thomas Aquinas 3-0 and will play Newman on Thursday in a quarterfinal match at 12:40 p.m.
McGehee beat Haynes Academy 3-0 on Monday, and Sacred Heart beat Notre Dame 3-2.
McGehee and Sacred Heart will meet in the quarterfinals, also at 12:40, with the winner playing the Curtis-Newman winner Friday in the semifinals.
Hannan and top-seeded Pope John Paul II are in the top half of the bracket and will play University and Episcopal in the quarterfinals.
St. Scholastica 3, Vandebilt Catholic 0: Jess Lucio had 16 kills, seven digs and a pair of aces to lead the Doves to a 25-16, 25-15, 25-10 victory.
The Doves (36-6), the No. 2 seed, advance to the quarterfinals to play St. Michael on Thursday at 6:10 p.m.
Cabrini 3, Central 1: Rakell Spencer’s 17 kills and eight blocks led Cabrini to a 25-15, 25-16, 20-25, 25-19 road victory in the Division II playoffs.
Cabrini, the No. 9 seed, will play top seeded Assumption on Thursday at 4:20 p.m. at the Pontchartrain Center. Blythe Smith and Hanna Kennair led Cabrini in digs with 15 and 11.
St. Amant 3, Slidell 0: No. 13 Slidell couldn’t slow No. 4 St. Amant’s well-balanced attack and fell 25-12, 25-12, 25-12 in the Division I playoffs.
For Slidell (19-16), Riley Herdliska led with 13 assists followed by Kacie Livingston who had seven digs.
U niversity 3, St. Charles 0: Grace Mohon had five digs, a kill and an ace, but it wasn’t nearly enough as St. Charles lost 25-6, 25-13, 25-19 in the Division IV playoffs.
T eurlings Catholic 3, Pearl River 0: The defending Division III champs rolled to a 25-11, 25-4, 25-16 victory.
Lakeshore 3, St. Martinville 0: Victoria Caruso had 14 digs and Rachel Ducote had 15 assists to lead Lakeshore to its 25-19, 25-22, 25-16 victory in the Division I playoffs.
