The Louisiana High School Athletic Association ruled Tuesday that Miller-McCoy will have to forfeit its game scheduled for Saturday against Helen Cox after a brawl that occurred Friday night during its game against Landry-Walker.
Two players from Landry-Walker will have to miss Friday’s game against Hahnville.
“By the officials records, all of Miller-McCoy’s team came out of the team box and onto the field during the altercation,” said LHSAA assistant executive director Keith Alexander. “By rule they are ejected for the next game. They would have just the 11 players who were on the field eligible and that would be a safety issue so they would have to forfeit.”
The incident occurred right before halftime.
The LHSAA ruled one Landry-Walker player ineligible for leaving the bench and another for fighting.
Alexander said his office watched video, met with officials, and got statements from both head coaches and athletic directors before making a decision.
Landry-Walker gets credited for a victory in the game that ended with the Charging Buccaneers leading 41-0.
The Charging Buccaneers (2-0), ranked No. 3 in The New Orleans Advocate Large School Super 10, will play No. 5 Hahnville (1-1) Friday at Behrman Stadium.
