Country Day defeats Madison Prep 50-47 for Class 1A state title _lowres

Country Day won its second straight state title with a 50-47 victory over Madison Prep on Saturday in the Class 1A state championship game at Burton Coliseum.

Michael Corchiani scored 14 points and J.C. Younger had 13 to lead the Cajuns (27-9), who won their fifth state title. They also won titles in 1977, 1980, 2009 and 2013.

Brandon Sampson scored 16 points to lead Madison Prep, which finished 25-9. The Chargers were also seeking back-to-back titles after winning the Class B championship last season.
