6. LAKESHORE: Opened District 4-II with a convincing win.

7. ACADEMY OF OUR LADY: Quality win over Lutcher last week.

8. SLIDELL: Tigers show they belong here by stretching SSA to five games.

Small Schools (Divisions III, IV, V)

1. POPE JOHN PAUL II: Best team in the New Orleans area — maybe the state.

2. MCGEHEE: Would be No. 1 on list if not for PJP.

3. COUNTRY DAY: Big wins over Northlake Christian, St. Joseph’s and Sacred Heart last week.

4. URSULINE: Won seven in a row since loss to PJP.

5. SACRED HEART: Two losses last week against two very good teams (PJP, Country Day.)

6. HANNAN: Two big matches this week (Mandeville, Sacred Heart) before hosting tournament.

7. JOHN CURTIS: Pounded Haynes in district opener.

8. NORTHLAKE CHRISTIAN: Wolverines get taste of district play beginning this week.
