The Spartans made a major statement with a 31-10 victory over rival St. Amant and Jacobs was the player who punctuated the effort. Jacobs stymied the Gator offense with three interceptions, three tackles and three assists. His first interception was a pick six.
“Our teammates (scout team) gave us good looks at what they (St. Amant) and we kept going over it and over it,” Jacobs said. “I felt like I was ready to play and then from there the game came to me. That was a big win.”
Duplechein, who returned from a torn ACL in just four months, did a little bit of everything for the Division I, District 4 Gators last week. She finished with 73 assists, 61 kills, 52 digs, 8 blocks and 6 service aces to help St. Amant remain unbeaten in district.
“Last week was the first time I started setting, along with hitting and it felt good,” Duplechein said. “I was able to put the ball down and make some kills that helped the team get on a roll. I feel like we’re playing our best.”
