BRUSLY — Quarterback Jason Holliday scored two touchdowns to lead unbeaten Brusly High School past Westside rival St. John of Plaquemine 21-8 in a nondistrict high school football game played Friday night at Brusly’s field.

Holliday scored on runs of 6 and 4 yards for the Panthers (2-0), while Zavion Bell added a 56-yard run while racing out to a 21-0 halftime lead.

Class 3A Brusly finished the night with 200 rushing yards on 30 carries.

The teams combined for 62 yards passing.

Gavin Landry scored the lone touchdown for Class 1A St. John (0-2) on a 36-yard run in the first quarter.

ASCENSION EPISCOPAL 35, CATHOLIC-PC 14: In Youngsville, the Class 1A Gators (2-0) and Hornets (0-2) combined for 28 points in the second quarter. Ascension Episcopal quarterback Jake Arceneaux scored the first touchdown of the game on a 6-yard run in the first quarter.

In the second period, Arceneaux connected on a 33-yard TD pass to Ronald LeBlanc. Boyd Smith accounted for CHSPC’s two scores. Smith scored on a 78-yard TD run and tossed a 65-yard pass to Troy Pichon.

AES’ versatile running back Ja’Ciery Linzer scored the next two TDs for the Gators on runs from 3 and 18 yards. Andre Roth scored the final touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Leo Franques and Payton Adams recorded a sack each to help lead the Ascension Episcopal defense.

WEST ST. JOHN 28, DONALDSONVILLE 18: In Donaldsonville, four players scored TDs for the Class 2A Rams (2-0). WSJHS running back Lamore Boudoin kicked off the scoring with a 76-yard run in the first quarter. He finished with 114 yards on 18 carries.

Quarterback Juwan Boudoin, who finished 3 of 11 for 31 yards, threw a 30-yard scoring pass with Jamal Walters in the second quarter.

Lamore scored again in the third quarter while Jabari Walters returned a blocked punt for a touchdown in the fourth period.

Stephen Sullivan caught two touchdown passes and finished with 102 receiving yards, while quarterback Tyler Brown comleted for 14 of 31 passes and a touchdown for Donaldsonville.

ASSUMPTION 21, ST. MARTINVILLE 12: Quarterback Da’Ron Williams rushed for 132 yards on 10 carries to lead Assumption (2-0) past the Tigers (1-1) in a nondistrict game that featured two Class 4A teams.

Williams scored all thee touchdowns for Assumption. His first score came late in the first quarter on a 1-yard run. His next two touchdowns came in the final quarter on runs of 74 and 46 yards. Williams also completed 2 of 6 passes for 15 yards.

After a scoreless first half, Jared Davis and Dylan Doucet scored for St. Martinville in the final two quarters.

ALBANY 65, EAST IBERVILLE 0: In Albany, the host Hornets rolled up nearly 500 yards of offense while running their record to 2-0.

Cheyenne Labruzza helped lead the way for 3A AHS by breaking loose for two 75-yard scoring runs in the nondistrict game against 1A EIHS (0-2). Kamryn Mayers also scored two TDs for the winning, scoring on runs of 25 and 14 yards to help fuel a 23-point first quarter.

The Hornets then added 20 more points, including the first 75-yard score by LaBruzza to add to their large lead.
