Fresh off winning the Class 4A state championship, three members of the Ursuline Academy girls basketball team will compete in the fifth annual Who’s the Mann All-Star Games on Saturday at SUNO.

Courtney Weber, Brooklyn Mitchell and Giordon Johnson will represent the Lions. The trio helped lead the school to its first state championship earlier in March.

Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. for the three games (sophomore, junior and senior) that will use a north-south format and pit some of Louisiana’s top players.

Easton’s Kechelle Figueroa and Karr’s Paige Williams and Zharian Maxmillion are among the players scheduled to play in the senior game.

Destrehan’s Cara Ursin, Louisiana’s two-time Gatorade Player of the Year, along with Karr’s Destiny Collins will play in the junior game.

Easton coaching search

Warren Easton’s search for a new head football coach is still ongoing.

Athletic Director Neil McKendall said they haven’t started interviewing candidates yet.

“We are not rushing the process,” McKendall said.

The Eagles are looking to replace Tony Hull, who accepted a position as running backs coach at Kansas.

Hull spent nine seasons at Easton.

He took over the Eagles in 2007, the school’s first season fielding a team after Hurricane Katrina. He led the team to the Class 4A state championship in 2014 and to the semifinals this past season.
