Lennie Kunert went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lift Live Oak High School to a 6-5 win over East Ascension on Saturday and advance to the Class 5A baseball quarterfinals.

The 10th-seeded Eagles (28-8) won the best two-out-of-three series in two games after an 8-7 win in the first game.

Gage Lockwood and Zach Hansen added two hits and an RBI each for Live Oak, which advances to face No. 2 seed Brother Martin.

East Ascension finished its season 18-17. The Spartans were led by Luke Lambert and Tristan Babin with two hits each. Babin doubled twice.

Hunter Merritt (6-2) got the win for Live Oak, while Austin Millet took the loss.
