MARKSVILLE — A 16-yard scoring pass from Jake Dunbar to Demaryon Lee in the fourth quarter lifted 16th-seeded Marksville High to a 25-22 victory over Donaldsonville in the opening round of the Class 3A football playoffs Friday night.

Peyton Dunbar led Marksville (8-3) with 21 carries for 176 yards and two touchdowns.

Devon Breaux set the pace for Donaldsonville (5-6). Breaux completed 16-of-30 passes for 167 yards, including nine passes caught by Leonadre James for 126 yards.

The game was tied at 6-6 until Peyton Dunbar scored on a 23-yard run. Breaux, who scored on runs of 1, 7 and 3 yards, staked DHS to a 22-18 lead in the fourth quarter.

ST. THOMAS AQUINAS 35, WEST ST. MARY 28: In Baldwin, the tandem of Breland Dillon and Javeon Francis helped lead 18th-seeded STA (6-5) to a Class 2A win.

Dillon had 16 carries for a 119 yards and one TD, while Francis finished with 16 carries for 101 yards and three TDs.

Francis scored the winning TD with 4:04 left in the fourth quarter. WSM’s Jontrey Tillman ran for a game-high 170 yards on 24 carries and scored three TDs.

BARBE 45, SCOTLANDVILLE 29: In Lake Charles, quarterback Kimani Smith completed 23-of-44 passes for 300 yards and three TDs, but it wasn’t enough to boost No. 20 seed Scotlandville (8-3) in Class 5A.

Dontraill Hilliard had 126 rushing yards on 11 carries for the Hornets. Kajandre Domino caught six Smith passes for 87 yards, including scoring tosses of 9 and 34 yards.

Five players scored TDs for No. 12 seed Barbe. Courtney Galentine finished with 124 yards on 15 carries, including a 43-yard TD run.

VILLE PLATTE 32, NORTH CADDO 13: In Vivian, Cody Jones completed 11-of-16 passes for 324 yards and three TDs to help VPHS, seeded 17th in 2A, notch a road playoff win.

Jones, who also rushed for 115 yards, tossed scoring passes of 44 and 60 yards to Darius Poullard and a 42-yarder to Justin Charles. Jones also had an 89-yard TD run.

Jake Brown passed for 130 yards to lead No. 16 North Caddo (7-4).

PATTERSON 42, BRUSLY 28: In Patterson, Justice Jones connected with Jaydrick DeClouette on three first-quarter TD passes to put the host Lumberjacks in control of a 3A game.

Jones threw TD passes of 6, 18 and 11 yards during a nine-minute span as No. 15 seed Patterson (10-0) built a lead.

Quarterback Jay Christophe scored on a 33-yard run in the first quarter for Brusly (6-5).

Patterson (10-0) travels to play top-seeded St. Charles Catholic (11-0) in LaPlace in the regional round.
