Dutchtown High is known for two things — running backs and running the football.
So the Griffins played to their strengths.
Charles Davis and Fitell Bolding teamed up to rush for 171 yards and three touchdowns to lead Dutchtown past Broadmoor 48-8 in a District 5-5A opener Friday night at BHS.
Davis ran for 93 yards on seven carries, including TD runs of 14 and 2 yards for the Griffins (4-2, 1-0). Bolding added 78 yards on eight carries with a 2-yard TD. Dutchtown led 27-0 at halftime and scored two TDs in three of the four quarters.
Dutchtown’s Jared Sparks also got into the act, completing 8 of 12 passes for 113 yards and two TDs. Sparks threw TD passes of 15 yards to Caleb Ricca and 44 yards to Jalen Carlin.
LUTCHER 49, CLARK 14: In Lutcher, the Bulldogs (5-1, 3-0) raced out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back to claim a District 9-3A win.
Destin Porter and Jontre Kirklin again led the way. Kirklin passed for 118 yards and ran for 57 yards. The Bulldogs quarterback opened the scoring with a 20-yard TD run and later had a 35-yard scoring run.
Porter also had a 35-yard TD run for the winners. Al’Dontre Davis caught a 74-yard TD pass from Kirklin.
CENTRAL PRIVATE 48, RIVERDALE ACADEMY 20: Cole Averette ran for 122 yards on 12 carries and scored two TDs to help Central Private (3-5) notch a nondistrict Mississippi Association of Independent Schools win at home.
Averette had TD runs of 16 and 29 yards. Austin Slater added 101 yards on 11 carries, including a 41-yard TD run for the Rebels. Slater also had a 66-yard kickoff return for a TD.
Jeremy Gajan returned an interception 22 yards for another score, while Cade Sanchez passed for 86 yards,
CHEF 35, ACADIANA HOME SCHOOL 26: Ethan Costa and Timothy Costa powered the Christian Home Educator’s Fellowship to victory.
Timothy Costa completed 8 of 13 passes for 145 yards and one TD. He also ran for 55 yards on seven carries and scored 2 TDs. Meanwhile, Ethan Costa ran for a game-high 108 yards on eight carries, including a 58-yard scoring run in the first quarter.
Hunter Darbonne led Acadiana with 72 yards on 10 carries. Beau Meche completed 6 of 17 passes for 96 yards and two scores as the Commandos took a 14-13 halftime lead.
