Ponchatoula advances to the Class 5A championship game with a 47-41 victory against Destrehan _lowres

LAKE CHARLES – Top-seeded Ponchatoula High outlasted Destrehan 47-41 with Arianna Hamilton leading the way at Burton Coliseum.

Hamilton scored a game-high 21 points, including four crucial free throws in the final minute for the Green Wave in the first of two Class 5A semifinal games at the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Girls Top 28 tournament.

Jyar Francis added 13 for PHS. Krysten Kenner led fourth-seeded Destrehan (26-3) with 15 points.
