Parkview Baptist senior-to-be Russell Reynolds is set to compete in two notable baseball showcase events.

Reynolds and PBS teammate Colin Rodgers are part of the East Coast Pro Showcase in Lakeland, Fla., that began on Sunday and runs through Thursday.

After that, Reynolds heads to Chicago for the 2011 Under Armour All-American baseball game set for Aug. 13 at Wrigley Field.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Reynolds is a right-hander and an LSU commitment. Rodgers (6-1, 180) is an Auburn commitment and is a left-hander.

Both PBS pitchers will be part of the Kansas City Royals squad in the games that will be played at Tigertown, the spring training home of the Detroit Tigers.

The showcase features top high school players from Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama and Florida.

“This says a lot for our program and we’re very excited to have Russell and Colin participating in showcases like this,” PBS coach Darren Mitchell said. “They were picked to participate a few months ago and they’ve both worked very hard to get ready.”

Reynolds will arrive in Chicago on Aug. 10 to prepare for the Under Armour game. He is the lone Louisiana player set to participate.

Rodgers and Reynolds helped lead PBS to a Class 3A runner-up finish Livonia last spring.
