Picks made today for fast track and on turf

Race 1

2 – Pound of Hundreds – Raced against a golden rail and is better than last effort shows.

6 – Moment of Grace – Comes out of same race as top choice – had no shot against the bias.

Race 2

3 – Lawton – Giving this one another shot on turf – last run race was strange effort.

6 – Portfolio Manager – trying turf but has the big speed numbers to win this try.

Race 3

2 – Chewing Candy – Didn’t really run a step in last as our choice – another shot today.

1 – Grand Ty – Today is second out and first was good enough to recommend a play.

Race 4

6 – Frisco Girl – Nice win in last – third place horse came back to win – good work since.

9 – Heavenly Kingdom – Think this one is the better of the Cox entrants and higher price.

Race 5

5 – Rockin Rusty Rue – Drops to the right level where this one has been competitive in past.

7 – Lucky Inferno – Should get a fast track today after a couple of off efforts on sloppy strips.

Race 6

6 – Lu Raes Lucky Star – Is a price play but is competitive at the level on best day.

9 – Six Schillings – Gets to run on turf and go around two turns finally to show his best.

Race 7

9 – Surely You Jest – Trainer not known for winning first out but I think this one can run.

2 – Crosswalk – think we will get a better price than the morning line here to play.

Race 8

9 – Marco Mischief – Fits nicely into this optional claimer race – fires on turf today.

6 – Wells Gold – This 10-year-old has won nearly half a million in career – still good.

Race 9

6 – Heza Bling Thing – Second out – was bet first out – bad break not persevered with.

9 – Social Cat – First-timer who is working well in the AM and trainer good with this type.

Around the Track

Brad Cox has opened up a bit of daylight on fellow trainer Joe Sharp in the trainer’s race to the title. Cox now leads 40-34. In the jockey’s race, Miguel Mena has a similar margin over his closest rival Shaun Bridgmohan, while Florent Geroux has moved into a tie for third with 41 wins trailing Mena’s 57. In the eighth race today, take a look at 10-year-old Well’s Gold. This warrior is still out there competing at a relatively high level and still loves to run at the advanced age for a racing thoroughbred of 10 years old. Well done old man.

Best Bet

Our Best Bet today will be in Race 1 — No. 2 Pound of Hundreds. Ran too well in a win and too bad in a loss to believe but today should be back to winner’s circle.

Good Luck and may they all come home safely.
