Around the track

Saturday’s stakes race is named for one of the greatest American race mares: Pan Zareta. A stone cold sprinter. Pan Zareta ran 151 times and won 76 races at 24 different race tracks. “Panzy” set the world record at 5 furlongs in 1915 (57.1 seconds) which stood for 30 years. While training at the Fair Grounds in 1918, she died of pneumonia and is buried in the infield.

Best bet

A great card today for Saturday racing with lots of value. Our best bet will be in Race 5: No. 3 Calipari’s Kitten. Let’s also take a look at Race 6 and make an exacta box with our top selections — 1-3-11 — with a win bet on No. 11. Good luck, and may they all come home safely.
