Picks made today for on track and on turf

Race 1

1 – Tale of Beaucette – Speed and the rail and has found level to compete – tough here

2 – Galatasary – Tough trip in last but prior race indicates this one can be competitive.

Race 2

11 – Channel Won – Probably needed the last race – made lead and tired at end.

2 – Great Kat – Tough-luck loser in past two but certainly is horse to beat.

Race 3

6 – Big E – Interesting horse moving back to dirt, but was tough and gritty win in last.

4 – Volograd – Fastest horse in the race but seems to always come up a bit short.

Race 4

9 – Miss Accuse – Big run back in August on turf – cuts back – working well – nice price.

2 – Smart Response – High-dollar purchase who is working fast in the AM for Sharp.

Race 5

9 – Telekinesis – Scratched before last after acting up in paddock but was bet down favorite.

5 – National Pride – Asmussen horse working lights out in morning, so look out in the day.

Race 6

10 – Time Flies By – Has been knocking at the door in last three and might get through today.

8 – Talking Zip – Has been trying to get to a turf race in last two but rained off in attempts.

Race 7

4 – Delusional KK – In career form and can handle the step up in a new barn.

2 – Play Unified – Finds a field he should be able to handle today for Calhoun

Race 8

5 – Lawton – They tried to get this one turfing last entry – scratched – tries again today.

4 – Main Road – Back in the barn of Moquett off private repurchase so that’s a positive.

Race 9

1 – Helen Wheels – Strong choice here with rail and early speed to get good position.

2 – Custom Paint Job – Throw out last and now take a huge drop in class to find easier.

Around the Track

Our weekly look at the jockey and trainers' standings finds an ever-tightening battle for leading trainer where Brad Cox leads Joe Sharp by just one win (29-28) despite Cox winning races at four tracks last week. Cox seems to have the upper hand despite the slim lead as he has more horses under his care to choose for entries. The jockey’s race also saw little change with Miguel Mena still leading Shaun Bridgmohan 42-40.

Best Bet

Our Best Bet is Race 9 — No. 1 Helen Wheels. Gets good draw and has nice pace and speed advantage over rivals.

Good Luck and may they all come home safely.
