Picks made today on fast track and on turf.

Race 1

9 – Chewing Candy – Claimed for this price and now back at the level; fits.

1 – Jackpot Johnny – Showed some willingness to win in last start; has the rail.

Race 2

5 – Chasing Moments – Sire Orb has been getting some nice numbers on turf.

2 – Eye of the Kitten – Expect a better effort second time out for connections.

Race 3

6 – Resiliency – New trainer – horse won over track – has some needed speed.

1 – Han Sense – In great form; now has the rail and will have the lead.

Race 4

5 – Holding Gold – Top class turf sprinter making first start of season.

11 – Will Call – Horse has done nothing wrong on this turf course – long shot.

8 – Imma Bling – Since the claim by Broberg has been sensational in two efforts.

Race 5

7 – First Premio – Trying this one on the dirt and that is a favorite angle of mine.

1 – Cedartown – Former Chok’s Choice pick could be a real nice horse; price too short.

Race 6

8 – Malibu Bonnie – Making first start off layoff – working well for return to winner’s circle.

6 – Mom’s on Strike – Has done nothing but win in last few including two in a row on course.

5 – Inveniam Viam – Long shot play loves this course finishing 11 for 11 in the money.

Race 7

2 – Testing One Two – In tough today but this filly is a stone-cold runner and worth a bet.

8 – Monomy Girl – The one to beat today off good efforts as a 2-year-old.

Race 8

12 – Catcho En Die – Ran well in North American debut and was likely best in a good group.

6 – Mr. Misunderstood – 8 for 8 on the turf including 3 wins over this course – horse to beat.

2 – Zulu Alpha – Longshot and exotic play underneath the top two has shown talent at times.

Race 9

1 – High North – Going for a long shot – the company lines of this horse stand out – live play.

5 – Instilled Regard – Looked like a Derby horse in last – a repeat makes tough to beat.

6 – Supreme Aura – Very impressive visually in last win and is undefeated.

Race 10

3 – Valiantly – Another first-time turf try for sire Orb – have to play these types as they win.

1 – More than a Saint – Bet first out in NY; gets the rail here for 2nd try with Geroux and Cox.

Race 11

3 – Efforting – Throwing last race out and should offer best today for the Fair Grounds Club.

6 – Princess Samurai – Likely in the money finisher in here for Calhoun – always gives best.

Race 12

8 – Tafts Lil Boy – Off slow in last but showed up to run through the race – better start?

3 – Two Date – Cut back in distance might help this one last a bit longer near the finish.

Around the Track

A tremendous card on tap today with 3-year-old colts and fillies on display in the Rachel Alexandra Stakes and the Risen Star Stakes. I’ve gone for a few long shots in those heats looking for the horses who can improve from their previous form but the favorites in both races look very tough. Today is also the inaugural running of the Albert Stall, Sr. Memorial stakes which is a race named in honor of a Louisiana racing icon and pioneer who passed away last year. The horses today will be running over the turf course which bears the Stall family name.

Best Bet

Our Best Bet today will be in Race 2 — No. 5 Chasing Moments. An orb sired horse going first time on the turf is an automatic play and there are two today. (Race 10- No. 3 is the other)

Good Luck and may they all come home safely.
