Picks made Friday for fast track and on turf

Race 1

3 – Aunt Lois – Definitely has the speed to contend here for under radar trainer.

5 – Electric Kiss – Might find herself off the pace today sitting a nice trip.

Race 2

2 – Pea Shooter Pro – In such good form willing to give shot on turf on the reclaim.

3 – Letthebigshot Roll — Drops to lowest level in a long time for connections – question mark

Race 3

2 – Medlin – On a dry track is the top choice after a bad effort in the slop – if wet downgrade.

8 – Honest Star – Showed some try in last closing to grab second in a dead heat — long shot.

Race 4

7 – Cause to Wonder – drop makes sense and was a nice field in last – short price but likely.

3 – Su Su’s Kitchen – New trainer but Mena jumps aboard and turf tries are competitive.

Race 5

3 – Maddy’s Pro – Should get first run on the early speed here from the second choice

7 – Morning Mischief – Won't get easy lead but could rate off any inside speed.

Race 6

9 – Slient Drifter – Victim of a trip in last – has more run than shown in last.

7 – Get a Valentine – like the cutback and the barn change to Sharp and Grady.

4 – Hotfoot – Nothing to knock – owned by connects of second choice – can win again.

IF OFF TURF – 4 -8

Race 7

2 – Catching Diamonds – Horse has worked too well and will run better 2nd out.

3 – Salt Bae – Big race in last and a repeat would likely win here.

Race 8

12 – Six Schillings – Last trip was not best now moves to Amoss barn – big shot today.

2 – Italian Charm – Another one with a tough trip but worked it out to a win in last.

Race 9

7 – Infinite Verses – Had some success with these lower class layoff types running big.

5 – Actif Storm – has the class to take these all the way but demand a nice price.

Around the Track

Brad Cox continues to lead all trainers in wins with 22 visits to the winners circle, but Tom Amoss has started 2018 on fire winning seven of 16 starts and five of nine at the Fair Grounds. Watch for Amoss’ charges this week. In the jockey race, as we pointed out last week, Shaun Bridgmohan had an incredible win percentage and then won five races on a single card to take the lead by one over Miguel Mena heading into this week’s races. Bridgmohan continues to win at a near 30 percent clip and that is a torrid pace.

Best Bet

Our Best Bet will be in Race 8 — No. 12 Six Schillings. Didn’t have the best of trips and might get overlooked today on turf only.

Good Luck and may they all come home safely.
