Shreveport is trying to bring the Saints to town.
Mayor Ollie Tyler proposed a $30-million sports complex to the city council on Tuesday that would include a 3,200-seat arena for the New Orleans Pelicans’ G-League team and training camp complex for the Saints, according to the Shreveport Times.
The newspaper report that general manager Mickey Loomis toured the proposed site three weeks ago. Local banker Rick Holland said the Saints need 150 hotel rooms, 10 meeting rooms and two football fields. An indoor field could be placed inside of a convention center.
Pensacola, Florida is also trying to land the Pelicans’ G-League team.
The Saints are conducting training camp in Metairie this season after spending the last three years at The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia.
