The New Orleans Pelicans were awarded the sixth pick in the NBA draft lottery in New York City.

New Orleans had coach Monty Williams in attendance. Williams was in attendance at the lottery last year when the team won the lottery for the first pick and later selected Kentucky forward Anthony Davis.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, who had the third worst record in the regular season, won the draft lottery.

The Pelicans, who finished the regular season with the fifth-worst record (27-55), had an 8.8 percent chance of getting the first pick.

Orlando, which had the worst record in the regular season, had a 25 percent chance of getting the first pick.
