Less than 24 hours removed from the final preseason, the New Orleans Pelicans have already begun to shake up the roster.
Sources indicate to The Advocate that the non-guaranteed contracts of Bryce DeJean-Jones, Jeff Adrien and former UNO standout Bo McCalebb have been waived. The moves leave the Pelicans with 14 players on the roster, one fewer than the maximum allowed when they open the season Tuesday night against the Golden State Warriors.
The Pelicans could also add a 15th player to the roster before opening night, sources say.
DeJean-Jones and McCalebb were both vying to fill the Pelicans' depleted backcourt depth chart, with both Tyreke Evans and Norris Cole expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks of the regular season. However, despite logging significant minutes, neither stood out enough to earn the coveted roster spot.
Meanwhile, Adrien played in just three preseason games.
The Advocate will have more details when they emerge.
