New Orleans Pelicans All-Star power forward Anthony Davis will be on the Dec. 8 cover of Sports Illustrated.

The story, written by Sports Illustrated writer Lee Jenkins comes under the heading Fear The Brow: Pelicans Do-It-All forward Anthony Davis.

Davis is pictured seated in a suit and tie. The story runs on page 58. A caption next to the picture reads: The 21-year-old Pelicans big man is playing with unprecedented efficiency. Davis leads the NBA in player efficiency rating (PER) at 33.39. It measures how efficient a player is according to the minutes he plays, using a variety of stats.Davis leads the NBA in blocks (3.0), is third in scoring (24.9 ppg), fifth in steals (2.07) and sixth in rebounding (11.3).

Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kevin Durant, the NBA's reigning Most Valuable Player, said Davis will be the next player to receive MVP consideration, like Durant did a few seasons before winning the award last year. Durant was on Team USA last summer preparing for the World Cup tournament.

“He's definitely playing MVP basketball right now,” Durant said Tuesday at Smoothie King Center before the teams' game. “He does so much on the offensive end but also is doing it on the defensive end.

“ He's real athletic, can shoot it. I've seen how hard he works during the summer time. Everything he's getting right now, he deserves it.”

Jenkins was at the Pelicans facility Nov. 24, a day before the team's home game against the Sacramento Kings, to interview Davis.

Davis posted a picture of the cover picture on his twitter account. Click here to see it.
