NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Hornets coach Monty Williams says the club has signed guard Donald Sloan to a 10-day contract.

The 6-foot-3 Sloan appeared in five games with Atlanta earlier this season but was released by the Hawks in late January. The 24-year-old former Texas A&M standout played earlier this season with the Erie Bayhawks of the NBA Development League, averaging 24.8 points and 8.4 assists.

The addition of Sloan on Wednesday comes a day after New Orleans released guard Carldell Johnson and forward DaJuan Summers.

Johnson and Summers had non-guaranteed contracts, which the Hornets would have been required to extend through the rest of the season had they remained on the roster. Both could be re-signed to up to two more 10-day deals if they clear waivers.
