The Pelicans on Friday waived guards Sean Kilpatrick and Chris Douglas-Roberts.

Kilpatrick played in five preseason games for the Pelicans and started one. He averaged 10.4 points per game. Douglas-Roberts also played in the Pelicans’ first five preseason games, averaging seven points per game.

Neither player played in Wednesday’s preseason loss in Orlando.

The Pelicans now have 17 players on their preseason roster, 13 with guaranteed contracts. They can carry a maximum of 15 into the regular season. Entering the final weekend before the regular season, four players – guards Nate Robinson, Bo McCalebb and Bryce Dejean-Jones and forward Jeff Adrien – are competing for two roster spots.

New Orleans opens regular-season play on Oct. 27 at Golden State.
