The New Orleans Pelicans signed guard Elliot Williams to a 10-day contract, filling their final roster spot, according to an NBA source.
Williams, 6 feet 5, comes from the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA Development League, where he played in 25 games, 24 of which were starts.
“He can defend, facilitate, he's a decent shooter and he gets his teammates involved on the offensive end,” the source said.
Williams played in five games with the Utah Jazz this season, averaging 3.7 points and 0.3 assists. He was drafted 22nd overall by Portland in 2011 out of Memphis and played one season with the Trail Blazers, followed by one with Philadelphia and this season with Utah. His career averages are 5.3 points and 0.9 assists.
