New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis could receive a few more honors Tuesday night.
Davis is nominated for two honors for the first NBA Players’ Association Awards, which will air at 7 p.m. Tuesday on BET.
The former Kentucky standout is nominated for "Best Defender" and “Player you secretly wished was on your team.”
Winners of tonight’s awards are voted on by the players in the league.
The other nominees in “Best Defender” category are Tony Allen (Grizzlies), Jimmy Butler (Bulls) and DeAndre Jordan (Clippers).
In “Player you secretly wished was on your team”, Davis is competing against reigning league MVP Steph Curry, Tim Duncan (Spurs), and LeBron James (Cavaliers).
Davis finished fourth in the league in scoring at 24.4 points per game, was seventh in field goal percentage (53.5) and averaged 10.2 rebounds per game (eighth in the league) as the Pelicans went 45-37 and reached the NBA playoffs for the first time since 2011.
He signed a 5-year, $145 million dollar earlier in July to remain with the Pelicans.
