Josh Hill got a nice raise to return to New Orleans.
The tight end received a three-year deal worth $7.1 million, with $3.25 million guaranteed. The deal could max out at $8.15 million with incentives and escalators.
Hill had signed an offer sheet with the Chicago Bears but the Saints matched the offer to keep him in New Orleans.
The full details of Hill’s contract have not yet been released, but a source said he will receive a $750,000 base salary this season and a $2.5 million roster bonus.
Since the bonus is fully guaranteed, it spreads out over the life of the contract and will count only $833,333 against the cap this season.
If there are no other charges that show up on the full contract, Hill should count around $1.58 million against the salary cap, which is lower than his tender amount of $1.67 million.
