Drew Brees let loose on Sunday.
Frustrated after a broken play that the defense turned into a jailbreak into the pocket, Brees threw down his helmet and let his offense have it at full volume.
Brees is not known for a drill sergeant's leadership style, but he was angry enough to give his frustrations full throat on Sunday.
"That's his competitive nature," Saints coach Sean Payton said. "We missed a protection assignment, it's happened a couple of times. It wasn't as much about the height of the snap as it was, you're going to turn one guy loose, and it's really knowing which guy you want to turn loose."
The rest of the Saints offense got the message loud and clear.
"On the field, it happens," rookie left tackle Ryan Ramczyk said. "Heat of the moment-type thing, and as an offensive line, we've got to be better than that."
