Drew Brees is sticking to the plan he set for this week.
Brees participated in the portion of practice open to the media during Wednesday’s practice.
Battling a bruised rotator cuff, Brees threw on Tuesday, and he plans to go through a full week of practice before the Saints make a decision on whether or not he’ll return after the first injury-induced missed start of his career in New Orleans.
Defensive end Cam Jordan, who played 87.9 percent of a possible 66 snaps against Carolina, was not present at the portion of practice open to the media.
Jordan has played 91.8 percent of the Saints’ snaps on defense, and he’s been largely the lone “Jack” involved at the defense’s premier position.
Veteran guard Jahri Evans, who missed the Carolina game due to a knee injury, was also not present at the portion of practice open to the media. Backup Senio Kelemete played solid football in relief of Evans against the Panthers.
Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (toe), cornerback Keenan Lewis (hip) and safety Jairus Byrd (knee) all participated in the portion of practice open to the media. All three practiced last week but were declared inactive against Carolina.
