The NFL draft released its finalized draft order on Tuesday morning, setting the stage for the New Orleans Saints and 31 other teams to make their picks.
New Orleans has eight picks in April's draft, including an extra fifth-rounder picked up when the Saints traded Stephone Anthony to Miami and an extra sixth-rounder picked up in the Adrian Peterson trade to Arizona.
The Saints do not have a second-round pick this year. That pick was dealt for the third-round selection New Orleans used on running back Alvin Kamara.
For the Saints, it's a very different draft than it was last April. New Orleans made six picks in the first three rounds last season, six choices in the first 103 picks. This time, the Saints have only two picks in the first three rounds.
"We’re not going to have the same draft," general manager Mickey Loomis said in Indianapolis last week. "There aren’t as many picks. Now, we’ve got some later picks, so we might be able to find a sleeper or two and get some contributions that way. Might be able to take those fifths and sixths and bump ourselves up, but look, that’s hard to follow. We’re going to try, we’re going to give it our best shot, but it’s harder when you don’t have as many picks, that’s the bottom line."
