Brandin Cooks is expected to play this weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after missing Thursday’s practice.
Cooks began showing symptoms of a concussion late during Wednesday’s practice and was put through the concussion protocol and was cleared in time for Friday’s practice.
Coach Sean Payton said the team was trying to be “overly cautious” with Cooks and said the wide receiver will be listed as probable for Sunday.
“He came in Wednesday and felt good, practiced and at some point in the latter part of practice he felt some dizziness, some headaches,” Payton said. “So we held him out Thursday and put him through the protocol. It wasn’t anything specific that he felt post-game or during the game.”
Payton could not recall a specific hit or incident that occurred during last week’s game against the Carolina Panthers that led to the concussion.
Cooks was evaluated by doctors and was cleared for action.
Cooks leads the Saints with 61 catches and 840 receiving yards.
