The New Orleans Saints have replaced Michael Egnew with free agent tight end Chris Manhertz, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.

Manhertz, a 6-foot-6, 255-pounder, played basketball at Canisius College, averaging 6.5 points and 6.8 rebounds in his final season.

The big former basketball player was signed by the Bills last December, then cut last week by Buffalo as the team reshuffled its roster.

Now, Manhertz is trying to make the transition to the NFL, even though he’d never played football until he put on a helmet for the Bills this summer.
