BALTIMORE — Dannell Ellerbe re-aggravated his toe injury during the preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens, according to a source.

The linebacker became injured stuffing a goal-line run during the third quarter of Thursday’s 30-27 loss. He walked off the field and then exited into the locker room after the play.

Ellerbe was also sidelined with a toe injury early in camp. He started at weakside linebacker against the Ravens. If he is unable to play, David Hawthorne would likely slide into that role.

The Saints acquired Ellerbe this offseason in the trade that sent Kenny Stills to the Dolphins.
